PREPOSITIONS

Prepositions are words used before a noun, pronoun or gerund to show place, time and direction. In this opportunity we are going to start with the prepositions of place but studying the most important first.

Preposition in

We use in to say where someone or something is, it is mostly use when we talk about a large area.

Mary is running in the park.

Ann is cleaning in her house.

Preposition on

We use on when something is touching a surface or being supported, also when we talk about a particular place.

The cat is sleeping on the sofa

The pencil is on the desk

Preposition at

We use at to say exactly where someone or something is, or where something happens.

All of them are waiting at the bus stop.

My sister is at home.
